CoExist is a transformative design concept that envisions a sanctuary for healing and regeneration, tailored to support women and children who have experienced domestic violence. Drawing inspiration from the abundant and restorative qualities of nature, this project harnesses the principles of biomorphism and bio-mimicry to create a safe, nurturing space that fosters recovery and resilience.
The architectural vision for the project revolves around the integration of natural forms, systems, and materials to evoke a sense of harmony, fluidity, and connection. By incorporating elements of resilience, adaptation, and ecological balance, the design serves as a powerful metaphor for the healing journey of its residents. The shelter’s layout and materials promote openness, allowing for the free flow of light and air, while also providing intimate spaces for privacy and reflection.
The goal of this project is to revitalize an existing site through a process of architectural regeneration, transforming it into a sanctuary where both the environment and its inhabitants can flourish. Through the careful use of natural materials and biophilic design, CoExist creates an atmosphere conducive to physical, emotional, and psychological healing, while offering a sense of stability and hope for those recovering from trauma.
This design aspires to not only regenerate the site but to reinvigorate the lives of its residents, providing a holistic environment that encourages long-term recovery, well-being, and empowerment. Ultimately, CoExist seeks to demonstrate the profound impact of design on healing, creating a space where nature, architecture, and humanity coexist in harmony for the restoration and renewal of all who enter.
