Third Church of Christ, Scientist relocated to a new 4,600 square foot church building to accommodate a new sanctuary, reading room/library, Sunday school, and public garden. The church’s open-door policy applies to all and is evident in the church’s deep desire to create a design that grandly welcomes the public and strengthens the church’s visual position as a community asset.
Soaring eaves and trusses, wood ceilings, large expanses of glass windows and crisp white walls impart inviting, light-filled spaces. The primary volumes, connected by the lower supporting space, hug an exterior courtyard that grounds the grand entry sequence while serving as overflow space for larger gatherings and Sunday school classes.
