AIA Memphis hosts and participates in many opportunities throughout the year. These events range from networking, fundraising, education, awards and honors, and more.

The AIA Memphis Celebration of Architecture
The AIA Memphis Celebration of Architecture is an annual event hosted by the American Institute of Architects Memphis Chapter to honor outstanding architectural projects while highlighting design excellence, sustainability, and community impact. Additionally, the Gala is an opportunity to recognize members for their lifelong contributions to the profession through the bestowal of the prestigious Francis Gassner Award and the Emerging Professional Friendly Firm Award. The AIA Memphis Scholarship is also awarded to a University of Memphis Architecture student.
The celebratory evening serves as a platform to spotlight innovative, impactful design, and individual contributions that shape our built environment.

Third Thursday
Join us for our member luncheons held on the third Thursday of each month. We will share upcoming events, updates on AIA Memphis activities, and enjoy networking and comradery. A featured speaker will share a 45 minute presentation on various topics including recent work, current events impacting the architectural industry, local, state, regional, and national topics, and other profession-related themes. Many of these sessions qualify for HSW and LU credit.
The Third Thursday Luncheons align with AIA’s mission to address current challenges the profession faces such as resiliency and sustainable practices, advancing an equitable and accessible profession, community engagement, and knowledge sharing.

Draughting Club

CiV Summer Scholars
Whether you’re already dreaming of becoming an architect or just curious about how buildings come together, this camp is your chance to explore, create, and have a seriously fun time doing it. Offered each summer in collaboration with the University of Memphis’ Department of Architecture, the weeklong camp will introduce high school students to a career in architecture through hands-on projects, office visits, visiting lecturers, and building tours. This opportunity is open to Grades 9-12 and Rising College Freshmen Registration is limited to 20 participants and will fill up early!
The Summer Scholars Institute is aligned with AIA’s mission to promote a more inclusive workforce with early outreach to potential architects and shape the future of our profession.

memMOD
Join us for an exclusive peak into some of Memphis’ most notable mid-century houses! This public event is organized in collaboration with local mid-century real estate expert Margaret Mikkelsen and features self-guided tours of fabulous residences around the city. Guests may visit the homes in any order throughout the event making it east to fit your mid century adventures in with brunch.
The MemMod Home Tour is aligned with AIA’s mission to promote architecture and cultivate partnerships to communicate the value of the architect with the community.

AIA Memphis Annual Golf Tournament
The AIA Memphis Golf Tournament is a favorite in the design community! Our largest annual fundraiser, the Tournament is a 4-person scramble, with teams of four players competing against one another. Proceeds of the AIA Memphis Golf Tournament directly support scholarships, programs and resources for architects and emerging architects to expand their knowledge and experience in the areas of architecture, community engagement and leadership. Always a sell-out, we ensure the players and sponsors have the highest level experience ranging from a fantastic course and great prizes, to unique on-course entertainment along the way hosted by our amazing partners in the industry.

Archimixer
This exclusive happy hour networking event is a complimentary benefit of Allied Membership in AIA Memphis. Attendance is restricted to members of the host firm and current Allied Members. We encourage out Allied Members to bring swag, brochures, and other marketing materials to be shared with the host firm.
The Archimixer is aligned with AIA’s mission to promote architecture and cultivate partnerships to communicate the value of the architect.

The Perspective Collective
Join us for curated monthly events for members and interns to explore Memphis, expanding perspectives on West TN, showcasing why it’s a place worth staying, building, and believing in. All AIA Members are encouraged to attend and connect with our Emerging Professional community. The Perspective Collective events offer networking and mentoring opportunities for all AIA Members to discuss how to navigate careers in architecture that truly make a difference.
The EP Perspective Collective events are aligned with AIA’s mission to promote architecture, shape the future of our profession, support future leaders and advance equitable and accessible professional development through connections to career-shaping resources.

Design Auction
This beloved event is the primary fundraiser for AIA Memphis’ K-12 initiatives. This fantastic evening filled with great company, drinks, and highly competitive live and silent auctions never fails to be entertaining. Donations from our AIA Members range from iconic furniture pieces and design objects to experiences, vintage housewares, and custom artwork. With a variety of price points and styles, the Design Auction has something for everyone making it a very fun way to support our critical pipeline-focused programs like the Summer Scholars Institute and high school career fairs.
