AIA Memphis hosts the Third Thursday: Lectures on Local Design series on the third Thursday of each month. Open to the public, Third Thursdays are hosted by local architects and designers as they share their knowledge and experience with projects in the Mid-South and beyond.

Master Case Studies in Biophilic Design

Bill Browning, Hon. AIA is founding member of US Green Building Council’s Board of Directors and founding partner of Terrapin Bright Green LLC, will take a deeper look at what makes successful Biophilic buildings work, from the Parkroyal Hotel in Singapore to the Clif Bar Bakery in Idaho. He will highlight case studies, observational and financial research related to Biophilic design for offices, hospitality and industrial properties.

Participants will be exploring:

  • Biophilic design and its health and productivity benefits
  • Case studies that demonstrate Biophilic design in buildings and related environments
  • Interior and an exterior architectural space with several examples of Biophilic features
  • Architectural and landscape design working together to create the experience of Biophilic space
